This qualification reflects the role of Drillers and is aimed at people who work in drilling industry. Students will develop their knowledge and skills completing tasks that involve a broad range of skilled applications that are applied in a wide variety of contexts and may involve some discretion and judgement in the selection of equipment, services or contingency measures.
They will not only learn how to operate the drill, but also learn how to maintain a safe work environment, train and manage their drill crews, conduct pre-start inspections, communicate with the client, conduct maintenance, set up the work site, run effective site operations.
As a driller you have the opportunity to work in remote locations or city based you choose the type of drilling that suits you.
You have the skills to expand into many different types of drilling applications and can create an amazing career travelling all over the globe.
Financially you will be paid well beyond $100,000.00 dollars a year and gain qualifications along the way that will place you highly sought after.

Already have experience? Students be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or an accelerated pathway.
On successful completion of the course, they will gain a RII31820 Certificate III in Drilling Operations. A Statement of Attainment will also be issued outlining the specific units of competency completed to form this qualification

The following provides the packaging rules for this qualification, followed by the list of relevant units of competency.
Total number of units = 13
8 core units plus
5 elective units, of which:
- at least one (1) must be chosen from Group A whose unit title begins with 'Conduct'
- at least one (1) unit may be chosen from Group B
- no more than two (2) units may be chosen from elsewhere within this training package, or from another endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.
All elective units selected from outside this qualification must reflect current occupational and learning outcomes of this AQF qualification level.
There are no prerequisites to imported units listed in this qualification. Where a unit is imported as an elective care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisites specified are complied with.

What to wear
All course participants are required to wear appropriate work attire, including a hard hat, gloves, steel toe cap boots, and long trousers.
Course Duration
It is anticipated this course will take up to 3 to 12 months to complete, depending on the delivery method and course attendance from the student. Levels of experience and any additional prior Qualifications in a relevant industry may also affect time frames.
Delivery Options
This course is offered via the following method across Australia
Flexible workplace delivery: (must be working in the industry)
Regular Trainer/Assessor contact through workplace visits, phone calls, texts and email
Self-paced learning (approximately 2 hours per week)
Recognition of prior learning options are also on offer depending on prior experience.
On the job training – our trainers come to your workplace to deliver theory and conduct skills observation and on the job training.
